Terms of Service

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Christian Bosse (“we”, “us”), who runs PuckPool. When you create an account you confirm that you are 16 or older and that you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your information.

2. What PuckPool is

PuckPool is a free app for running fantasy hockey pools with friends, family, or coworkers. You can create a pool, invite people, make picks or draft players, chat with your pool, and follow standings that update from real hockey statistics. PuckPool is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHL or any team.

3. No betting, no payments

PuckPool is free while we’re building it. It does not take payments, hold money, pay out prizes, or offer any form of wagering. If we ever decide to charge for PuckPool, we will tell you well ahead of time, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it first. Do not use PuckPool to organize gambling or to collect entry fees. Any arrangement between pool members outside the app is entirely their own responsibility.

4. Who can use PuckPool

You must be at least 16 years old to create or use an account. PuckPool is not directed at children under 16. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it and delete its personal information as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Your account

• Give a real email address you control and verify it.
• Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
• One person per account. Do not share accounts or sign up on behalf of others.
• Choose a display name that follows the fair-play rules below.

6. Pools and commissioners

The person who creates a pool owns it and can invite members, appoint commissioners, change settings, correct results, and archive the pool. Commissioners manage their pool in good faith; PuckPool does not referee disputes between members. Pool names, entry names, and display names you choose are your responsibility.

7. Fair play and acceptable use

• No harassment, hate, threats, or offensive names.
• No impersonating other people.
• No attempts to break, overload, scrape, or get around the security of the service, and no use of other people’s accounts.
• No use of PuckPool for anything illegal.

8. Pool chat

Each pool has a chat for its members. Keep it civil: no harassment, hate, sexual content, spam, or sharing other people’s personal information. Commissioners can pin, remove messages, and mute members in their pool’s chat, and can see reports members file. We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules. Chat is text only; don’t post passwords, payment details, or anything you wouldn’t want the whole pool to read. Messages stay in the pool’s chat for as long as the pool exists; the Privacy Policy explains what happens to them when a message is removed or an account is deleted.

9. What you post

You keep ownership of what you post: your display name, pool and entry names, and chat messages. You give us permission to store it and show it to the members of your pools, only as needed to run PuckPool. Please post only things you have the right to share.

10. Hockey data and scoring

Game schedules and statistics come from a third-party sports data provider, and player photos are loaded from the NHL’s public image servers. Statistics can be delayed, incomplete, or corrected after the fact, and pool scores and standings may change when that happens. We do not guarantee that any statistic or result is accurate or on time.

11. The service and our liability

PuckPool is a free service provided “as is” and “as available”. Features may change, be paused, or be discontinued, and the service may sometimes be unavailable or lose data. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost pool data, and we make no promises beyond those written in these terms. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived or limited by agreement.

12. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from My Account → Danger zone. If you own a pool that is still active, archive it first. The Privacy Policy explains what is removed and what is kept. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut PuckPool down, we will give reasonable notice first where we can.

13. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we update the date and the “What changed” note at the top of this page. For a change that matters to how you use PuckPool, we will also tell you ahead of time, for example by email to your account address. If you keep using PuckPool after a change takes effect, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can delete your account. Accounts created before sign-up asked for agreement accept these terms by continuing to use PuckPool.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Brunswick and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be handled by the courts of New Brunswick, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them to your local courts.
