Draft pool
A Draft pool is a hockey pool where members take turns in a snake draft, so every NHL player can belong to only one team in the pool.

The rules
A Draft pool is a snake draft. The commissioner sets the draft order or lets PuckPool randomize it. The order runs first to last in round one, then last to first in round two, and so on, so the person who picks last in one round picks first in the next.
Once a player is drafted he belongs to that team for the pool, and nobody else can take him. Rosters have no position requirements: draft the players you want, one per round, up to the roster size the commissioner chose. Joining the pool closes once the draft starts.
The pick clock and your queue
The commissioner can run the draft with no clock, or give each pick 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 seconds. PuckPool keeps the time on its server, so every screen agrees on whose turn it is.
While you wait, line up players in your queue (up to 50). Only you can see it, and a player drops off every queue as soon as someone drafts him. If your time runs out, PuckPool drafts the first available player in your queue; with an empty queue it takes the best available player by fantasy points this season (last season’s before opening night). Those picks are marked “Auto-pick”.
What the commissioner can do
- Set or randomize the draft order, choose the pick clock, and start the draft.
- Pause and resume the draft; the time left on the clock is kept.
- Make the pick for the team on the clock, or undo the last pick.
- After the draft, correct a roster with a reason. Every correction is recorded in the pool’s audit log.
Who it’s for
Draft pools suit groups that want a draft night and rosters nobody else has. The draft room has its own chat tab, and it works on a phone as well as a laptop.
Scoring basics
After the draft, your players’ regular-season games earn fantasy points under the pool’s Standard or Simple preset or the commissioner’s own values, and the standings rank the teams by total points. See the full scoring tables.
How to start a Draft pool
- Create a free account and choose Create a pool.
- Pick Draft pool, name it and choose a scoring preset.
- Invite your group, then set the roster size, the pick clock and the draft order.
- Start the draft when everyone is in.
